Ive installed a dsl line recently at home and subscribed to mweb uncapped. My line keeps on dropping at random intervals and telkom cant find the problem.

Since my iBurst contract ended in October, I though of renewing it. To my shock i have to pay R398 for the same service i had for R239.

How can Iburst think to keep their current customers if this happens?

It seems i have to fight with telkom until they get my line fixed which at the moment seems it will take years to fix.

You not alone, got issues on my adsl line for 3 months line :(

Ive changed filters, routers, cables everything except my PC, but no-go.

I went to help my father-in-law with his ADSL line yesterday. 45 minutes to download a file that takes 30 seconds on iBurst. Eish! I signed him up for iBurst on the spot. (Never mind that he says his line is more down that up.

But back to prices of ADSL. There are installation charges. You have a mandatory voice line charge of R133 (heck it would be possible to have an iBurst product cheaper than that!). A 384kb/s link is R133, while a 512kb/s link is R286. To have the same as iBurst you need to pony up an extra R362. Any alternative solution on ADSL has a cost of ownership > R700.

The uncapped offering from iBurst between 12:00 and 08:00 easily allows > 170GB. (The FUP only applies for hours excluding this period)

Currently the value is great and can only get better but I supposed I'll be flamed for stating the obvious. And before we have the protagonists harp on about iBurst at 1 Mb/s, 80% of ADSL purchased is 384 kb/s!

Iburst does have its virtues and until cell c solidifies its status iburst will continue to be the 'go to man' for no fuss, quick and downloads.A better, more affordable uncapped offering from iburst is the way to to go.

Uncapped without strings is not feasible as it does not have demand management. Price is a factor of speed, capacity, connections and time.

If this is not taken into consideration you may have a great price but a congested network (which is what is happening with DSLAMs across the country).
