Hi Fellow Humans,
I would like to ask some advise - as I'm second guess myself (even after some reading and testing myself)
I have come to the end of my business contracts (2x lines) and need to upgrade / move to new provider - want to cancel one line to use as personal.
I work for Medical company in the ICT department and need to be "Connected" and reachable basically 24/7
Stellenbosch is were I work and stay about 66km away from my work - hence the reason trying to be a mobile as possible.
My main Data package (150gig pm) is with MTN with B618 router. Stellenbosch speeds 30Mbps+- up and down. Home town speeds 50-+ Mbps up and down consistent.
one line is purely for work (Vodacom) other is personal but on business (Vodacom)
Vodacom and MTN both has some great deal - but which one? lol
MTN Sim only :
- 1000 minutes
- 3 Gigs of Data + 20Gig as Bonus (on device data not fixed)

my thinking was - I'm already on MTN data with 150gig so my data is covered, but I need Minutes now with on device data for emergency. I trying to spread my data and minutes across the two major networks.
My issue is (for me personally with Iphone 6s plus and Iphone 8) is vodacom data is slow and unreliable 70% of the time
So was thinking the following:
- Main Data - MTN 150gig (on router with powerbank 1h-+) covering me at work if BCX fails and covering me at home or remotes sites
- Leave my work line with vodacom business and take package with 20gig on device data and 600 minutes
- Port personal number to MTN and take a small package there that just gives some minutes (hotspot data from vodacom sim - if that fails switch on router)
Guess my question is - does this make sense. I'm looking for people on MTN business for some opinion on call quality. Vodacom for me in terms of call quality is okay (6 -+ drop calls a week) but MTN call quality I did not test to the same extent. Vodacom data is okay but very rarely have great speeds and coverage on 4G (4Mbps -+)
Not sure why I'm bit hesitant taking bulk of my talk minutes to MTN
