I am looking at the following 2 modem/routers:

- Netgear DGN2200-100PES N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router
- Asus DSL-N12U Wireless-N300 ADSL Modem Router

I want to use it for low lag gaming while the rest of the family is browsing or downloading stuff.

Do anybody have experience with these modems? Which one should I choose?

I have a really crap line and used various modems, so far I am getting best DSL stable link with a DLINK 2750U +- R799. The WiFi range is apparently not that great on the DLINK but am more worried about my DSL and will use a WiFi repeater if I run into problems on the DLINK's WiFi.

SNR (dB): 6.0 8.0
Attn(dB): 52.0 31.9

Max: Upstream rate = 1089 Kbps, Downstream rate = 5984 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 1021 Kbps, Downstream rate = 5115 Kbps

+1 for the 2750U.

I've had one for a year now. Had some teething issues in the beginning, but they've been sorted for months.

Are any of you using the QoS on your modem? I think that the QoS would be essential for ensuring low latency while the family is surfing.

I have the DGN2200 V4 , very good router, rock solid connection. QoS is great.

What do you use the QoS for? How does it work?

You just select priorities. IE Your PC can be set to Highest and the other PC's Lowest or low.

Here is an example, it also works with wireless by using their MAC address.
