choosing where to get ADSL line from

I was wondering, does it matter where I get the ADSL line from? Telkom or the ISP I actually intend using(Afrihost)

Just wanted to ask, is it like one might have problems when moving from one ISP to another only when Adsl line is not with Telkom? Or are there other disadvantages as well?
