Choosing your OWN Number

Hi ,

Sorry if this has been covered previously.

( I did have a quick look -- but admit to being lazy and not looking harder )

Is it possible to obtain a cell number of your own choosing

I know that certain numbers have special properties for certain groups

But if I wanted a number that was very similar to say my land line -- is that possible

Yip I have 3 personalised numbers, my mum, dad, sister and bro all have their own personalised numbers.

Depends on the number and if its already taken or recycled.... and if you ask the right people!

Sit with a 'helper' at a vodacare branch and ask nicely. I got to choose my number.
And another way to first check if the number you want is available or not is try phoning it. If you get a "doesn't exist" message, you can atleast tell the network that you know there's a fair chance it's not taken.
If someone does answer the number, get cheeky and ask them if they wouldn't mind selling it to you...you never know, if it's a prepaid number the oke doesn't mind handing over because you've got a good reason (for eg: my name is 7 characters long...so my choice number would be 0825637627 if my name was Joe Soap).

Yes. Wife and I have the same last 7 digits as home number, so the only thing that changes is the area code.
