Christmas menu?

We decided the hell with the traditional menu of roasts and stuff, seriously ridiculous prices of roasts as well :(

Making the following from scratch, for the 25th

Chicken sweet corn soup/with prawn spring roll

Chicken chow mein
Sweet and Sour Prawn
Sweet and Sour Pork
Rice and egg noodles.

Bow tie

Leg of Lamb yesterday - R 200 a kg...

Making a turkey a'la weber plus roasting a leg of lamb and a pork neck in the oven this afternoon - making gravy for each - and then we jump in the car and head to the in-laws to eat.

Boet! I need to know more about this Turkey Weber thingy, I have a Toikey in my freezer that I need to cremate before Sunday..... Please advise how you are doing it. Are you stuffing butter under the skin?

That is just beyond sane :(

I think out whole menu worked out R500.00 if I quickly add it up.Most expensive item were the prawns, but still reasonable at R112 for 1kg of queens.

The year before that, when went to a xmas buffet, R250.00 per head,Rock up pig out, and leave again, without having to concern your self with the mess and dishes afterwards.

Tonight I am making some Semolina Gnocchi with a lamb curry, going to be awesome, the gnocchi, is topped with bread crumbs and Parmesan and roasted in the oven till caramelized...:P

I use the rotisserie - no seasoning and no basting - just round and round until it's done - which incidentally is far less time than in an oven.
