Has anyone experienced where they click on the page and it jumps to an ad page or an add page is opened?
Does this mean I have a virus or what?
I've scanned using both AVG and Malwarebytes.

Hope someone can help?

Check your Extensions.

There is an obviously dodgy one. If it's not obvious switch them all off and enable one by one till the problem appears again.

I did what you suggested and when I reopened Chrome the Adblock (not from chrome store) installed itself.

Thanks guys/gals, I removed all extensions and it seems to be working - no more adds pages opening up.
Will be looking at using a different browser. Any suggestions other than Firefox or Microsoft's browser?

Why change your browser? Change your ways. Don't click on dodgy stuff...

I had the Chrome installation on our HTPC hijacked with some bull**** adware, which highlighted words on webpages with unwanted links to ads and opened random popup windows. Was branded 'Ads by Appjoy / Cheaptick'. Resetting Chrome to default would cause an obviously unwanted extension to show itself - which could then be removed - and solve the problem completely... until a reboot. Eventually, after letting ADWCleaner, Malwarebytes and I don't know how many other malware removal tools do their thing, a complete uninstall and reinstall of Chrome fixed it.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotches of people behind such scummy endeavours.
