Look at this page.

In IE, Safari, others, it works flawlessly. I had a similar use on one of my client's sites. They use Chrome and said that the page hangs. So, I tried it in Chrome. Even in this simplest form, this bit of scripting brings Chrome to its knees. If you have Chrome, check it out - is your experience the same?

Is it a Chrome bug or something else?

Well, its NOT working here... problem is as described by OP.

I think the issue might have to do with the Chromium browser... its what Im testing with: Chromium 11.0.696.68

Also, happens in both Fedora and Ubuntu, if that helps at all (haven't tried in any other OS)

Edit: Appears to only be applicable to the first entered character. After the first 2 characters (both in entering and removing), the page 'hangs'. For every other letter, it seems ok.

Works fine for me on Chrome 11.0.696.65 and Windows 7.

Hung on Chrome 11.0.696.68 Windows 7, updated to 11.0.696.71 now works fine.

Thanks guys - looks like Google musta fixed it then. I see .71 is also out for Mac so I will give it a bash. Although, I stumbled upon a far more elegant solution (for my needs anyways) using OL-LI and setting the style to height=0 for non-matches.
