Bosco do a great job, but you will be in for R600 for origination for each board, plus the wrong end of the price curve for low volume.

Have you considered merging the gerber files onto one panel and supplying as one bigger board gerber file, thereby reducing panel origination costs? Then just ask them to V-score between boards for you and you can break them up yourself. Some manufacturers will do this for you if you are on a tight budget.

I have all types of files for these. I have .lay (sprint) files, i can generate gerber and drill files etc etc. However, i have requested a quote from Bosco but if you say R600 per original etc then that's out already cos it would be 2400 for 4 boards before additional!! Europe is looking better and better LOL

MAN it would be cheaper, in some cases, to fly there and pick them up rather than get a company in your own country to make them!!
 
On the point of cosmetics, most of the manufacturers cost this in as standard, thus there is not a lot of benefit in leaving them off. Some of the smaller manufacturers may come to the party on this one. Try PCM on this one.

Well i guess if it is a couple of bucks to make it look nice that's cool but within reason. PCM?
 
I just got a quote from Bosco!! Seems setup per board is R143 and then price per board depends on quantity but my guestimate based on that would be around R1600 excl.

That's not bad at all, maybe they just whack us commercial guys harder ;) Sometimes it pays to be a hobbyist :)

With BOSCO, take a look at cost on all the price-breaks, reason being, my previous employer wanted me to order 15 of a specific board but it would've been cheaper to buy something along the lines of 24, so we had 9 spares at a cheaper price in the end.

Ja, their quotes are great, because irrespective of the quantity you request, they provide a cost breakpoints from small volumes all the way up, so you can pick the sweet spot.

Yeah the one board i am ordering 6 because it works out cheaper than 5. 425 for 4 and 380+/- for 6.

Well it appears they quoted me only on sigle sided and didn't look at the other side gerber file.

So let's wait and see - i won't celebrate just yet LOL

I saw some electronic company auctioning their stuff off on a auction site recently so closed I think.
 
Hi Jake

I have been very suscessful with this project thus far. I still have a LONG way to go but that is due to time more than anything. I have an electronics stack which works 100% which currently allows 256 switches, 6 digital (7seg) instruments i.e. IAS, ALT, SPD etc

I have a complete MCP which operates perfectly. My next step is to build the frame/Cockpit/MIP and start mounting the panels as i build them or i will very quickly run out or desk space LOL

I have based my design on FSBUS and my boards are done at BOSCO. As mentioned previously in this thread it is sometimes cheaper to order 6 in stead of 3 because the price drops off per unit on some boards.

My panels are designed in CAD, Laser cut then sprayed and then laser etched.
 
What are the prices for BOSCO and CBoards roughly, lets say A4 single layer panel?

I get quite a bit of PCB's done locally with Durban manufacturers, but I'd just like to know what their prototyping costs are for future reference? Always good to know whats out there.

I've used Trax, Cirtech, Mastercircuits and a few overseas manufacturers too.

Yup. Have had quite a few PCBs made by them. All of them had 8 mil spacing and traces as the smallest (in fact, I supplied the CAM jobs as 0.2 mm metric, which is technically smaller). Was a flawless job on their part.

Cool, very nice, good to know.

I normally do ENIG or Immersion Silver, so if they do those then they might get a bit of business from me.
