Circumcision ads on radio

So I have always been fighting against these Circumcision ads on radio mainly because they are misleading. They advertise Circumcision as the cure to aids basically saying things like it's the right thing to do to protect your family and it's just a little bit of pain for so much benefit.

I feel these ads are are creating a situation where men that are not circumcised would be frowned upon because they are "not" doing the right thing.

It seems the ASA is simply for these stupid ads and dismisses my complaints.

Most recent one is Me VS Community Media Trust for KZN Department of Health.

The ad is where 2 guys playing pool saying it's a little bit of pain to help fight HIV and protect your family and that it's the right thing to do.

I don't agree that it's the right thing to do. Circumcision in itself even if it's just 1 way of prevent there are more easier ways like using condoms and not sleeping around and knowing your HIV status. Why hammer and almost make non circumcision if I can put it like that evil or bad.

If I can compare it with like a slogan saying Drought is a reality, Save water it's the right thing to do. So anyone not saving water is not doing the right thing. So if you see someone wasting water you would think hey that guy is not doing the right thing.

What is you take on this?

Nah, these are adults being silly, which they're free to be. Didn't have to search far for a corruption angle though. Mpumalanga, admittedly, but I'd bet good money on the story repeating wherever adult circumcision is being pushed in SA.

So funny that you mention that because the VMMC program was mentioned by CMT in their response to the ASA. Quoting some rubbish stats about how circumcision prevents HIV blah blah blah.

Shocking that the ASA did not investigate this more.

That boat has sailed. In Africa, condoms are the devil, sleeping around is the cultural norm and HIV?

What is that.

Can understand the ads as its just another means to lower the HIV rate.
