Anyone know of any training institutions offering this course? Not interested in online training for now. Cape Town preferably, but Johannesburg also an option.

Just curious. Have you considered other security qualifications like Certified Ethical Hacker? Why would you choose one over the other?

CEH is not worth the paper it is printed on, nor is it a worthwhile alternative to CISSP.
OP, please contact Mervin at www.sacs.co.za he is a great trainer and former ISC2 board member.

Yes, already qualified in some EC-Council certifications like CEH and CHFI. Would love to do OSCP, but work won't pay for it, since I'm not a pentester. CISSP also seems to be more on the governance / management side of security, which would be good to have as well.

Taking into account the horror-stories about the CISSP exam and then seeing the caliber of some of Security people holding the certification, I am starting to wonder whether it the certification is worth the money/time.

The best training any prospective CISSP candidate could get is to work alongside an ISO worth his title.

Unfortunately this can be said for a lot of certifications, and basically every single Microsoft one. It all depends what you put in to pass the exam, do you learn the work or just study the exam answers. Exams should be more practical, a good example is CCNA and CCNP (haven't done CCIE yet).

Have you completed the course and exam and are you in good standing with ISC2?
If not, you are simply regurgitating unsubstantiated information.

Sorry pal, EC-Council was serving Angler on their site last month. EC-Council are charlatans in the respected parts of the infosec industry.

If you do find a place that offers onsite training please make sure that instructor is a.) a certified CISSP b.) is a certified trainer

Did my CISSP and used the text book and Shon Harris videos. I did a course with a company called AMC iirc and they were good but I think you can do it self study with the videos. Check YouTube if you need explanations on things you don't understand.

Or try gns3 academy, they have various courses you can sign up for with videos and pdf docs for a year and a reasonable price.
