Hi all,

So recently, I travelled and on arrival found my hold baggage is damaged
Both wheels are broken off and the bag no longer rolls on the ground.

Went to baggage claim desk, but apparently the regulations have changed, was told (twice) that Anything external to the bag, rips tears cuts or anything like that is no longer covered. You have to buy separate insurance or claim from your own traveller insurance..... All they can do is open a ticket, and send me a report, so I can claim back my own insurance.

This is quite odd, as I managed to get very decent compensation last time I flew with 1time (when they were still operating).
They actually had somebody standing at the carousel and 2weeks later, provided me a brand new bag,
For similar sort of damages last time, a big rip along the outside, and a busted wheel.

Thought I'd ask the people who travel more than me, how do they deal with these things? And am I supposed to deal with somebody else at the airport?
Or has the regs changed with these low cost carriers, that unless the plane depressurizes and your bags end up in the middle of the Karoo
They will then pay you.

Just follow the advice in this step-by-step video guide:

Was thinking the same...putting wrong oil in his car, almost getting arrested for taking photos...and now this. Eish.
Not bad luck, just questions, and unique situation that seem to happen to me often, that's why I ask these questions
Is there a better way to do things?
Did service the car, used correct oil, did film and not get arrested
But this last one, not sure if I went to the right people....(baggage claim)

Didn't tell you on this same trip, what delayed the plane taking off.
Really bizarre situation, I found myself in;
So after boarding my plane, and stowing everything, and grabbing my seat,

The captain and 2 stewardesses approach me, asking for my ID and boarding pass, and since I have a unique and uncommon name.
Took these, and gave them back to me later on.
After everybody had boarded, the captain explained the delay:

Somebody had gotten, past security, past check in, past the gate, and got to the plane already, where their boarding pass had the same seat as me.
(17c emergency exit aisle) the person checking tickets remember me, and got a hold of somebody to verify what going on, so they check my name against the manifest, and since it was quite unique, they asked me for my boarding pass and ID.

Long story short, they offloaded this guy from the flight, as his bags had gotten(somehow) onto the flight already, he/she had managed to get past everything and gotten on the plane already, where, due to my unusual name, was flagged....
Delayed us taking off by about 15 min, until they sorted it out.....

And I believe this is where my bags got damaged, as they were searching for his bags, they broke(maybe) mine...

But at this stage, who knows anymore?

Is ok Bro. I'm also on a nsa watch list. This is normal.

Although I'm there not cause of my name, so maybe you are screwed.

My case was also damaged (pretty much squashed) on my return from SA earlier this year. Tried to complain, but they said as it still serves its purpose - protecting the contents - there's nothing they can do.

SAA managed to completely lose my wheelchair.

Landing in London, and not having any extra wheelchairs available in the airport. The bright suggestion was to bring a baggage trolley and push me around on that.

They eventually found it a few weeks later.

Well the NSA are after me all the time, and apparently I have a clone.....
And my name isn't Osama or Kim jong Un.....
So I don't know why somebody tried to impersonate me.....
