I had a minor incident where I knocked a pillar in my parking lot, scratching and denting the front left fender of my car on Sunday.

I called up my insurance company and submitted a claim first thing Monday morning - they sent me to the assessors the same day to inspect the vehicle.

After the assessment was done, the guys at the panel shop said my insurance would be in contact with me.

Question is, how long it takes for insurance to get back to you or approve a claim? I've never claimed before, and just want to get my car fixed. It kills me to look at the damage, even though it's only minor. :o

Depending on the insurance company and how fast the assessor submits his findings. You are probably looking at 2 maybe 3 days after he is done.

Sorry for your loss :o

Concur with Lupus. If you do not here from the company by Friday morning, I would be calling your broker to check where the process is at.

If you have an excess in place though it would be worth asking the panelbeater that quoted what their cash price would be.

Might be worth paying out of pocket for it if the damage is really that minor.

There most probably also will be a delay as to when you will be able to get a booking at your panel-beaters. The approval on my vehicle was done the next day, but only secured a booking for the repairs three weeks later.

Absolutely!

For what it is worth it took the assessor 2 weeks to file the report for damages to my car. I was given the whole 'system is down' bull****. So your mileage may vary.
