I have been using AVG up until recently when my computer (network server) got trashed by a virus. Its an old pc so I have decided to bury it. But because I am out of the country at the moment, I got a pc nerd in to repair the balance of the system so that my wife could use it. But anyway, he suggested using clamwin as the antivirus.

Anyone know how good it is?

It looks like this got lost in the number of posts on this forum. So...has anyone used this yet??? give us some feedback

I've used it, it was fairly good, i kept it up to date, but sometimes it didn't catch ALL the viruses. A good free virus scanner for non-critical systems. The linux version is better.

We use it in production as part of a chain of virus scanners. I would not recommend using it alone.

I use AVG Free at home and have not had any problems with it - I highly recommend having a look at it -> www.grisoft.com

One thing I can tell you is it takes ages to scan, one of the reasons being is it scans the text within files. Depending on how full your system is it can take a day or more to do a full scan

So sometimes it's better just to get it to scan just the Windows directory or program files
