Clarification on the Telkom 3GB cap

I've been hearing people complaining about the 3Gb cap that Telkom provides.

My question is: if I'm not using Telkom as my ADSL provider, then does this 3Gb cap affect me??? Cause I really find it very hard to understand why people don't just move over to another ADSL provider who offers a higher cap, like axxess???

When one uses another ADSL isp instead of Telkom, then this cap problem is solved, isn't it???

At the recent Telkom ADSL service hearings held by Icasa, I kept hearing people complain about the 3Gb cap that Telkom imposes. Telkom, I believe, imposes this in their capacity as an ADSL isp, right??? I believe that Telkom has a right to impose this cap limit, even though I also think that it is ridicoulous. However, people DON'T have to use Telkom as their isp. They can just use another ADSL isp, with a larger cap limit.

The thing is that each "decent" ADSL ISP is reselling SAIX bandwidth, which is Teklom, so the decisions that Teklom make may affect these resellers.

Also - because teklom control the ADSL line 100%, and nobody can actually tell them what to do, teklom does actually have the power and the means to simply overrule anything the ISP is doing.

I assume this total control exerted by Telkom over the ADSL line is something ICASA is looking on based on the recent hearings??? Cause I really find it unacceptale that Telkom is directly interfering with a service that has absolutely nothing to do with them, since they're ONLY responsible for the ADSL line. NOT the ADSL service, which would be offered by my chosen ADSL isp.

Well mozes, if people didnt abuse uunet the way they did with the uncapped(yes you can do 60gig or even 90gig a month if you really must) But why the hell push for 300gig a month and maxing out the line.

Anyways, the competition got effectively killed to start with, during that time.
