Huzzit!

My car has light grey leather seats. I have Plush Hide Food that use every now and then as a treatment but this is not a cleaner.

Any recommendations on how to clean leather seats?

The dirt is just general use type dirt that builds up over time. Nothing special or exotic.

I use BMW's leather foam cleaner before I apply the leather preservation cream. I've used it on my light grey as well as black leather.

Meguiars also have two products in their retail line i.e. Gold Class Rich Leather Aloe Cleaner and Gold Class Rich Leather Foam Cleaner and can be bought here

Google local 'leather cleaners'... there are quite a few

Thanks. Have seen a few in stores too. Was looking for personal references. Will checkout Meguiars.

So. Went to Midas. Got the Lanolin stuff. Rubbed seats. Rubbed seats. Rubbed Seats. They're better but not like new. Still hair line dirt etc. Grey leather. Eish.

My wife reckons I should use Handy Andy and then the lanolin treatment.

Please don't use handy andy...it will dry the leather out and make it crack. I've been cleaning and maintaining leather seats since the 60's and there is nothing to beat a tin of Dubbin, that you can get at any good shoe or leather shop. Feed it well, and then buff before it is totally dry...it cleans and feeds at the same time.

Not taking a stab at you Fazda, but generally the two step process is the "prefered" route by most detailers. You can be certain that the leather is thoroughly cleaned before moving onto the next step, which is conditioning. Light coloured leather is very unforgiving, so if not cleaned in the first pass, you may have to repeat and then condion.

One of my current favourites is the 2 step Adams leather care. The cleaner works very well, and the conditioner has that "new" leather smell to it. I love that vs the scented stuff. Gives the car that new car smell :D

dont laugh and this has worked perfect on pretty much any car i had with leather ...

Bucket of luke warm water, and some LUX soap ... it gets the seats looking like new again ... trust me on this ... wash the seats with the soap water solution and then again with just water and then dry off ... i dont like that "shine" you get on leather after some use ... and this gets it to that matte new look again

What TWO products do I need to order from your site? I see the Adams leather cleaner. What is the other one?

It's for grey leather (Jeep Cherokee).

The leather & dash conditioner is what you looking for. ;)

Adams conditioner

Its a tad pricey when compared to Mothers etc. But if you looking for that matt finish with new leather scent, you wont go wrong.

I fully agree with you. Remember I have been cleaning my already clean seats with dubbin...any seats that need to be brought back to new should go through your process.

Adam...no disresp[ect meant, but you probably don't keep your cars long enough to see the affect that cleaning them with LUX does after a while! Please go the Crazydetail route or dubbin...NOT soap!

For the first 2 years, water and soap will work fine, using any other product that is "absorbed" by the leather will cause the leather to soften and eventually stretch.

After the first 2 years, choose a product that is super light, and as non-absorbent as you can get. I have not found anything that will fit the bill.
