Hi Guys,

I have a question. This device:

It is supposed to have a power on delay of ? 10 seconds.
The problem is that after purchasing 3 of them, one failed out of the box - no delay and the second stopped providing the delay after about two weeks of use. The power comes on immediately. The LED is green upon power on and then 10 seconds later there is a click and the red protected LED lights up but the power is on immediately.

I also have a REFRIGERATION version which gives a 2 minute delay upon restoration of power.
So wondering who is using these APPLIANCE Clearline protectors and whether yours still provides the 10 second delay.

I returned the first unit to Takealot. Now I may have to return a second one. That's a 66% failure rate of 2 out of 3 for these APPLIANCE units.

I have a 10 second delay one on some appliances, and a refrigeration one for my fridges. The refrigeration one is 5min delay, not 2.
 
These things are a rip off. I wouldn't trust the surge protection if they can't even implement a reliable delay.

You can buy a standard surge protector, and a smart plug, for less money, and implement a delayed-on in software, and you get power metering and remote control for free.

I have this one which has a 5 min delay.. Works well.. I'm home most of the time and like clockwork it delays for about 5 minutes after LS

My Fridge one still works.

These were sold at a great markup recently, hence I got the Clearline ones, still at R640 each with such a high failure rate. I think I'll return the Clearline and get this one.

and I thought clearline was the good quality one.

The Clearline ones supposedly also have undervoltage protection. It may be a gimmick though since in all the years of loadshedding, we've never lost an appliance.

Well I've always used Ellies but these had no delays and only over voltage. No undervoltage or delay. I speak of the red ones here. But as said, never had any device failures, maybe the grid in my part of Cape Town has fewer spikes.

Ellies also have one for your TV called TV safe
 
No issues with the Clearline Fridge Protection with 5minute delay.

Only once did we have a power surge and the fridge protection didn't come back on again, had to manual switch it off and on again to reset. But I won't complain, fridge would have been fine and insurance would have had to buy some food....maybe.

Want to get another 5min delay for my inverter. Only one I have now is an Ellies, but it is of no use when the power keeps on tripping 3 times when it comes back on before it sort of stabilises.

I can confirm the under voltage works due to recent power issues in our area. I also have a mix of 10s and 5min units depending on the equipment connected.
 
Clearline were of the first and of the best years ago, they must have deteriorated as everything is in SA
 
I am using the Gizzu one for my fridge. Was on special at takealot a while ago for R199

Yes , there is a delay when power comes back after loadshedding as it checks the voltage incoming so any undervoltage or overvoltage is cut off until the voltage stabilizes.

Got one foe each of my TVs as well.
