CLI rip off

Can anybody confirm if its possible to cancel CLI (call line identity) on any SA network operators?
Paying R7 or R8 a month as a "mandatory fee" seems absurd - since free apps (True Caller etc) offer this for free via their app.

True caller and other apps won't work if CLI is cancelled or disabled.

If it is allowed to be cancelled(Which I doubt) every call you get will show a Private number/Unknown number.

Truecaller relies on cli to function. The app wont help you if you do not have cli. I do agree that the fee is extortion, especially since it is free on most prepaid packages.
