Clicks app/website security question

I have a question for all the web and app developers.

I noticed that my name was being censored/masked on the Clicks website and app, which seems odd. I contacted their online support and they've stated that this is for security reasons:

For security purposes, due to our system upgrade your name and surname will not appear in full on our App and website profile.

Literally no other app or website that I use does this, so it seems rather odd to me.

Does this really improve security or privacy in any meaningful way, and if so, how?

The way I see it your name is not a secret. We often give our names to random people. Masking a name does not aid to security at. all....
