Cliff - Right or Wrong?

Did Gareth Cliff overstep the line in terms of how far one can go on-air?

May you be struck down by a flaming noodle covered meatball!!!

Ramen!

Sorry, didn't mean to offend :)

It's just I had a (female) friend who is a Rastafarian, she wasn't very happy with the way the men considered the woman as being inferior. Maybe I've got it wrong...

I wonder why some people think their God is so useless. Surely if their God got upset about this he doesn't need plebeians running around the Internet getting petitions done for it? Surely if God was upset about what Cliff had to say he is big enough to do something about it? Or is this God too weak to do it himself and needs the help of us mortals?

i agree with you. never thought of it like that actualy :)
i thought of it like this - without some form of guidance on what is acceptable, how would we know what is right and wrong? but i get ur point.

I believe humans are moral by nature, we have to be in order for society to function. Look at how our society is breaking down because of some people's total disregard for others. And it's not because of a lack of religion, we are one of the most religious societies in the world, I think.

Absolutely not, this is a lie peddled by religions to keep people in check.

The most atheist nations are also arguably the most moral (Scandinavian)

Religion has given us very few good things in it's history

This your opinion however...

yet religion are assumed to be since the beginning of time??? Anyway, this thread has gone waaaaaayyy of course....

btw, any names to these multiple books and research???

There is actually a timeline for organised religion that doesn't quite make it back to the beginning of time. Unless you are one of those that believes the world is only 6000 years old

This thread is still on topic since it is about how religious people are completely intolerant to other points of view.

//I think posting links to academic research and published papers would be pointless at this level of debate.

Isn't morals a result of religion?

No..while some people dont seem to know right from wrong to easly, not everyone needs the fear of punishment not to do evil. These kinda people scare me... the fact that they need an entity with a huge stick to tell them to play nice shows a lack of personal character.

I'm religious but stated from the start that i too think the resultant uproar was a bit too far...

Why would it be pointless to post links... What level are you referring to?

No! That's my whole point. People are perfectly capable of being moral without religion.

How did you come to know of morals? Did you have a religious background? Did you just for e.g. decide on your own that to sleep with someone else's wife is wrong? for e.g. ofcourse...
