Climate Name Change

I'm not attacking their right to hold these opinions. I'm saying they should pay a social and political price for it. Same as vehement racists and anti-vaxxers. They can have their opinion, but I'd hope society can punish them for their stupidity harm they're doing by not elevating them to positions of authority and major influence.

I'm also not sure the goal of this petition won't be counter-intuitive, but coddling people who perpetuate harmful nonsense is also not helping. As I said, they don't value reason, logic or evidence. And these people suffer from crank magnetism. I'm not just referring to their position on climate change, but on a whole host of issues.

according to whom? this is a democracy. which politician or organisation will take up this mantle and not come out without being hurt by bullying a group of people into accepting something? the reason that this is a petition is because it's signed by pretty much invisible nobodies to hand to a higher authority.

people ARE attacking people's rights to hold these opinions, as soon as you associate a negative force with a name it's to degrade or victimise somebody. suddenly EVERYONE is dragged into this issue as the country is talking about Hurricane Al Gore as it's no longer some random name but an actual person

According to me. And I said I'm not attacking it, not that nobody is.

Support it with unambiguous evidence. Models are not evidence.

And where would we have been if people like Galileo paid a social and political price for their ideas? The establishment of the time also saw them as people who don't value reason, logic or evidence and it turned out to be the other way around.

Can you summarize the main points there? Is your argument that the empirical observation of an increase in CO2 levels is false?
An empirical observation (whatever you mean by that) of increased CO2 does not equate to it having an effect on climate.

Ahh yes of course, the earth is only 6000 years old, silly me. :wtf:

Why doesn't the graph go back a little further ? A few hundred million years or so ? Why not a billion ?

800k years is a blip in the history of the planet, isn't it ?

Here you go, 15 million years is how far you have to go back http://phys.org/news174234562.html
How the hell did it get to that peak 15 million years ago ? Dinosaurs ? Aliens ?

Jab, what gives ?

Going back further than 800k years had its controversies.
You don't say.

Edit : Saw this on reddit, a view from a hotel in Shanghai. The building opposite is about a 400m away

Doesn't seem like a pleasant spot to live in, I'd move.

Well i think saying we dont know is probably the best response, but yeah it could be a similar event that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs but on a smaller scale or from many years of volcanic activity or both. ( i am of course postulating here). However just because we dont know, it doesnt invalidate our current theory on global warming.

With a mere 800K years worth of data, I still don't understand how Jab can so confidently say it's not a natural cycle.

We can calculate the natural cycle levels without CO2 from human interference.

If you can read and comprehend, you know what my point is.

So why still ask ?

Abandonallhope , ive really tried to be patient with you. If you dont want to expand on your question and would rather be rude then you can fsk right off.
