Climate scientists plan campaign against global warming skeptics

Yes it has, and more than likely as a result, rather than a cause, of a changing climate. It's too late because there was never anything we could do about it, we don't have the ability to change the climate globally, nor have we ever had that ability. The planet is doing what it does and we just have to strap ourselves in and enjoy the ride.

Pity. The strategy of letting the science speak for itself, without scientists speaking about it on public platforms has clearly not worked, hence the massive number of people who think that the science is shaky.

Associating global warming with politicians like Al gore actually undermined MM global warming support in the U.S

That's true, as well as people (scientists) like Michael Mann (flawed hockey stick mann) and William Connolley (banned wiki editor and previous editor at Real Climate). AGW has a PR problem, the science one would think, should speak for itself.

Add to that Hollywood celebs. Telling everybody to cut back when the average joe is already struggling, before setting off in their private jets for a holiday at their multi million dollar Tuscan villas.

what a joke

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for reducing pollutants in the atmosphere but I don't think we should be so arrogant as to assume we're anything more than a small contributor in this current trend. But if all that these scare tactics achieve is to leave us with a cleaner atmosphere then I think there may be some purpose in it.

Unfortunately no one has proved without a shadow of a doubt that the assumed cause is result in the actual effect.

This is what I have been trying to say here as well...

We simply have not been around, documenting the climate for thousands of years.

Its shooting in the dark blaming it on pollution and most people who use the terms "global warming" and "CO2 in atmosphere = leading cause in temp rise" are wrong.

We should no longer use the term "Global Warming" because its inaccurate (just like "Global Cooling" and sudden Ice age).
Instead use "Climate Change" and if the only greenhouse gas you know about is CO2 then you should not even speak about the changes in the climate.

In fact, the term "Global Warming" went out of vogue recently when the AGW crowd realised they couldn't actually be sure things would continue to warm up. They changed it to "Climate change" so they could still be right no matter what happened.

Anyway, to sum up what's been said mostly on this page, I think the point is, all we want is to study the situation for a while longer. To gather more data and to put PROPER theories on the table. Not some rubbish based on flawed computer models and dodgy data that still hasn't been released for peer review (15 years later)

Science isn't a popularity contest - global warming isn't happening just because Al Gore won an Oscar (incidentally, his estate uses the same amount of electricity as most small US towns). We need proper evidence, and lots of it, before we can begin to understand how one of the largest and most complex systems on our planet operates.
