Hi all, I am debating whether or not to clone or do a fresh install. I am replacing my PC tomorrow.
Going from 8700, z370 prime, 16gb ddr4 to 7600x, B650 strix and 32gb ddr5

Now I believe that doing a fresh install is better, because of different chipset/manufacturer.

But here is the issue, I can't ****ing remember my Windows 10 account details. I made it like 8 years ago and never bothered with it afterwards. Nor do I know if my key was a retail, dsp or OEM key. I also bought Dolby Atmos, so do I just lose all that as its Microsoft account bound?

Is cloning ok, I will probably just need to uninstall and reinstall a **** ton of chipset drivers etc?

Is your MS account not linked to your personal email address like Gmail?

Open cmd as administrator

And copy paste this in:
"wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey"

You should get your key displayed, then just save it.

You can always Google get windows key via command prompt or via powershell or find it in the registry.

On a side note you can also use a command (sudo strings /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM) in Linux to extract a windows key from a laptop, I'm sure with cmd aswell so you may be able to use your laptop key for your main pc if you have one.

Hi, thanks I have my Windows Key. I was able to use my Microsoft Account Login to get access to my account and Dolby Access etc (everything I've bought) except W11.

I have the key, i have my logins, but it still says not valid. It wants me to buy it, but I bought it 8 years ago,

Just grab a new key off carbonite for ~R100, far less drama than trying to get an old key working.

Call MS support if you get the US call center they might just sort you out.
