I use the Parket app for one of the shopping centers I visit so I can drive in and out and not worry about paying at the ticket machine.

This morning I get a notification that my car has been parked at some parking lot in the CBD and it's been there for 2 and a half hours. Confirmed my car is safely in the garage.

Has my number plate been cloned? Or did the camera misread the number plate of another car? I have emailed Parket support about this.

This happened to a colleague of mine around 2012 or 2013.

In his case it was worse as the perpetrators had the exact model and colour of car as he did. Nissan (Tiida) and he had to jump through hoops to get the ordeal sorted.

Initially started receiving fines etc.

I would 100% go there and confirm, if it has then call the cops and get him nailed.

Chances are its the same make, model and colour so it matches the disk.

60% chance it's that. Those parking people use the cheapest junk they can find to implement their systems. They're greedy.
I've seen them use Raspberry Pis to do this sort of thing, and often use Koos the Sparky to install it too, so it looks like a dog's breakfast.

If I am wrong and your numberplate was cloned I'd be surprised.
The test would be if the vehicle doesn't move and remains parked indefinitely but then again, don't know.
