Closing bank account

So uhm...slightly noobish question.

Whats the procedure on closing a bank account?

I've got a ZA account that I'd like to close but its still got money in it (or rather will have once the SWIFT goes through). Can I nominate a different account & tell the bank to deduct whatever fees are due & transfer the rest?

Just a bit confused as to how I get towards a net zero balance at the right moment...

if in sa go visit branch after swift deposit done . can withdraw remaining funds cash or eft beforehand

Go to the bank and close the account, easy as pie...and take the balance home in cash.

Its a semi-dormant investec account...so no physical branches and I'm not in SA at the moment anyway.

idk...guess I'll just give them a call & see if they can close it & transfer balance based on a phone call...

Internet banking ?

Investec has personal bankers so if you don't know who it is give them a call or email and they will tell you who looks after your account.

Then a letter with authorized signature should be able to close it.
