Does anyone know about this Cloudgate Circle thats available from Takealot for R 999?

It looks like great value for media, Netflix & such like? Seems like all that is needed is a wireless keyboard & mouse.

Also, as there is no remote for this, is it possible to remote control this Android device with another Android, such as my phone?

Get a Chromecast...it sounds like all you're interested in is watching stuff which means the CloudGate is too complex. Chromecast is cheaper, no peripherals and just works whereas I didn't like the part of the rep's feedback earlier (now deleted?) saying they installed multiple apps to manage different media types (how would a user know which app to use for which container \ codec)?

You only need the full Android experience if you're wanting to do stuff beyond media consumption. Plex on phone casting to the Chromecast is solid for media consumption.

The Cloudgate seems to be quite fun, a self contained Android PC, for want of a better name. It could save a lot of hassle at home, with kids & their laptops & them deciding whose laptop to use. Now, there will be a dedicated unit to use for media &/or other stuff.

Would be great to find out if there are any remotes or remote apps to control this device.

No one wants to sit on there couch with a keyboard and mouse

I've found 2x remote control apps in the Play Store that I will be testing.. 'RemoDroid' & 'Tablet Remote'. (Android to Android remote control) Just waiting for the Cloudgate now. I've been told it comes with Netflix (& others) but still needs a VPN. I've used Hola on both my Note 2 as well as on laptops with very good results.

Please let us know how it goes.

With regards to a VPN , I have had only good results using unotelly on my network.

I can check it out and let you know, have had one in my office cupboard for a while after doing some initial testing on cloudware.

I've got a couple of VPN's to try.. Hola has been working well. I got Hotspot Shield to try. I've been trying the free ones so far. Is Unotelly free? The Cloudgate should be arriving today, so I've been getting my ducks in a row for switch-on.
Thanks for the info, so far.

Unotelly is not free, but you can try the 7 day free trial. It's totally worth the $7,99 :)

Gottit & played last night. So far so good. I'm using it plugged in instead of wifi to my router (obviously faster) & am using a free VPN.
Resolution is 1280.The Cloudgate only has hdmi as well as an optical output, no audio. A small problem is that I cannot pull the audio out of the line-out of the TV I'm using. I just need to check if my audio system has got an optical input.

Also, it could be nice if I can control the device via my Note 2. Neither 'RemoDroid' & 'Tablet Remote' work.

Wait for the next exciting episode...
