What's the cost for a replacement clutch kit for a 2007 Corolla (the shape before the current one)?

A friend of my wife's car can't move, even with the clutch depressed and the car in first. The only thing I can think of is the clutch.

Of course the only thing they can tell me is the car won't move, so that's the only thing I can think of. Of course I have a very limited knowledge of cars, so I might be wrong as well. :D

She does have insurance, but no motor/maintenance plan so I'm asking around just in case. I can probably get someone to fit it for her (buddy has a workshop).

TIA!

It may not be the clutch plate btw, it could be the master or slave cylinders... they're much cheaper to replace.

Could also be a broken CV joint. Or a gearbox problem.

OK, I think its better they call someone who knows what's going on. Luckily the friend is stuck in our driveway.

Will keep you guys posted

As a start, is there ANY pressure in the clutch peddle when pressing it, or does it just flop to the floor?

Usually the lack of pressure is an indication that the slave/master cylinders are problematic...

Could also be the brakes tbh, I've had to deal with one car where the rear brakes had locked up....

No car will move with the clutch depressed and in gear with engine running, it must at least be released. Try to first release the handbrake.:D It may be your choice of words which is confusing.

Spoke to them again now, there's very little pressure on the pedal, however it "takes" unusually high up when released. Its still struggling to get away, but is moving.

The clutch is plain worn out. Do what ABC told you, and all will come right.

Definitely the clutch

Price depends on make, I would suggest Sach though. Will save loads if you can do it yourself, but it's a K@K job :p

Ok, that is indicative of the clutch plate pretty much.

1. Mostly likely clutch. Failed pressure plate or release bearing.

2. But

-if the clutch brake fluid has boiled or -
-has not been changed or
-the master /slave cylinder has failed, You will get a similar issue.

3. I am assuming they did not complain about shifting prior to arriving at your house?

Ok. Found out her 20 year old brother was using the car this weekend...and that explains it all!
