clutch kit prices

Hi guys

My clutch is slipping alot and I have decided to do the whole clutch kit install. I have already removed the old clutch plate its finished i mean it really needs replacing.

Anyway the car is a golf 3 1998 gs 1.6. I wanted to find out how much a good quality clutch kit should cost on average. I dont wanna buy something cheap neither do i want formula one parts lol. I just want something of a good quality. If you ciuld reccomend a good brand to buy as some spare shops will sell you crap just to make a few bucks. Im in edenvale gauteng.

Phone Goldwagen they have great prices on VW service parts, LUK and Valeo should be fine.

ZF/Sachs > LuK > Valeo, but even Valeo's perfectly decent.

Mk4 golf clutch kit, flywheel and release bearing R14500 from vw. Got the same from gw and midas for 4500 fitted. Same make and part numbers. Was a few years ago.

Sachs clutch for a Golf 3 1.6 is about R800 - R1000. You could also try a LuK... it needs slightly more pressure to operate the clutch pedal than with the Sachs kit. If it's still the original clutch, it will most probably be LuK.

Thanks guys for all the replys got a sachs clutch kit for R900 from star brake and clutch edenvale. Installed it and the cars moving like a dream
