Clutch Making Clicking Sound

I've got a new 2012 i10 (bought Feb) and in the last few weeks its started to make a clicking sound when using the clutch. It always happens at the same point when I push it in and release it. Its just as the clutch takes. It drives me nuts when I'm in peak traffic. Also the sound will go away until I change gears.

From the interwebs the following are know to cause this:
* Clutch pedal rubbing against metal.
* Clutch pedal loose
* Neutral switch (not so sure if i10 comes with one)
* Gear indicator switch (my i10 does not show current gear but which gear you should be in)


I also had some other sounds in the car but these I traced down to loose objects in the wheel well and crap my kids left under the seat.

The car is due for its first service in February as its only don 6K this year.

best to book your car in , its still under warrenty so they should sort it out

Thrust bearing. This is the bearing on which the fork of the clutch presses to move the plates apart. Sounds like this one is defective

That's my guess too, or the slave cylinder or the pressure plate (highly unlikely). But after 6k km? My wife's Getz ate its thrust bearing carrier and spat out the actual ball bearings (after 150k km).

Thanks guys. I will be taking the car in but I like to go prepared knowing if they arw going to BS me. I've learnt to first explain the problem, hear their reply and then I tell them what I think it is.

Youe replies also helped me look in the right direction as it could also be the master cylinder. Since I've had the car its clutch has taken low. I injured my ankel last year and I tended to dismiss the clutch taking low till my wife started to use my car a few weeks back. I see a faulty or low on fluid master cylinder can cause this problem.

This is also why I took out a maintenance plan on the car, just because its new does not mean it cannot break.

Update: I actually traced the cause of the sound tonight. I decided to check the basics

1) My clutch is cable (so no master/slave cylinder) and where the clutch cable meets the gearbox, there is a cotter pin. This pin is held in place by a grove and it shifted causing the pin to touch a piece of metal when changing gears. The click started after my wife drove the car on a dirt road.

2) My acceleration pedal was loose. Its very common for this to happen and all the forums recommend this the first port of call. I only realized this after I resolved the clutch issue. I must have knocked it loose while cleaning the car as it just clips onto the accelerator bar (?). Thank goodness its designed in such a way that it has 3 clips and even if they are all loose it still cannot fall off.
