So I have a Kia Rio that's just over a year old.

With the cold mornings and afternoons, I've been experiencing really odd things with the clutch.

Two afternoons ago I had some serious clutch shudder while leaving work. The weirdest of them all is what happens in the mornings. My driveway is at a bit of an upwards incline and I usually reverse out. Often it feels like the clutch "grips" way sooner than usual. Popping the car in neutral, letting the clutch out and popping it back in "solves" this.

Do you think the car has a problem, or is this normal?

I would definitely have it checked as that is not normal.

You could have popped a main seal, which can happen on a brand new car.

I've heard the clutch is only covered for a year with Kia but if you have a maintenance plan will they cover it for the maintenance plan period?

Yeah, although it depends on what part of the clutch. I'll have a look in the book around lunch time.

I was just really trying to understand if there was indeed a problem or if it's normal. I just assumed it's fairly new so it shouldn't do that. But I know jack about mechanics :P
