Hello guys, so switched on my laptop to watch series 7 of House, and oh no.
Time clock has stopped. Did some reading and apparantly the CMOS battery needs replacing, any idea where I can purchase one from? and how much they cost? Am located in the Sandton area.
Also, considering I have never stripped a laptop before, is it simple enough to do by myself?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It is a process that can take quite a while to do yourself, but it's not difficult either.

Download the assembly manual for your laptop, and then have a look at the size/model of the CMOS battery, and then you can buy one at like a pharmacy.

Thanks guys, maybe I will do just that. Over 3 years old now so no warranty.

CMOS batteries go by the code CR2032. I suppose its possible though that a laptop manufacturer could use something else.

Its a Lithium battery & non-rechargable. Going rate for one is ~R20, but it varies a lot. They are also used in HP calculators & various other things, so most electronic shops have them.
