Isis on Cnn or Isil on Al Jazeera, which one is correct? I get it when both broadcasters give details, there are talking about one topic.

With Al Jazeera being so close to the "action" who knows what they will or will not say to not piss them off and risk an attack.

Best is to watch both/as many sources if you want a balanced view.

Even on the same channel, you hear different commentators use either one. Just see them as the same thing.

PS: you should rather look at which channel you prefer watching - different experience.

Thanks for responding. After Saddam fell, Iraq was never the same, the americans left a big mess. Now they must do clean-up.

Technically, neither.

They refer to themselves as the Islamic State, just that media outlets, the UN and other states refuse to use that term.

ISIS - Islamic State in Syria
ISIL - Islamic State in the Levant (IIRC)'

I thought ISIS was used to refer the the ones in Syria and when referring to the collective (Syria, Iraq etc) then ISIL was the term
