I was wondering if anyone knows of a proper way to check .co.za domain name availability. As a temporary solution, I curl into .co.za's site - but if you make too many connections in succession, you get the message 'Data mining count reached'.

I contacted Uniform but they took like 22 days to respond, and there response was very unhelpful. In fact, they didn't even answer my question properly. Didn't want to reply and wait another month for a response.

.co.za is the place to go....

How and why are you getting to the point of getting that error..
I use .co.za everyday and have never gotten that.

I work for a hosting company and we do 100's of lookup's a day via our ordering interface.

I spose I'm just intelligent... I ping the www record first.. if it responds i don't bother going to .co.za

100's you say?... then I'd be thinking your ordering interface needs to be updated to keep a record of the lookups its done.

1. do a whois and dig thru samspade

2. Use nslookup

ToxicBunny pinging a www record to determine if a domain is available is not intellegent.
