Hi all

Busy planning my new house setup and I wondered why do we not use coax cables to transmit HD but only HDMI? The answer is probably simple but I have no idea what it is.

If Coax is the input to a PVR and you can extraview via 2 cables and a switch, why cant you then run a single channel output from one TV to another at full HD? If you were just trying to mirror a screen?

I would never do this but just wondered.

partly because a coaxial cable has a single copper wire which has to send both audio and video at the same time.. this limits resolution and forces audio down to stereo..

Mostly a lack of bandwidth.

Same reason we don't use coax for networking any more.
