Forgive me, and not really sure where to put this, but I am about to go insane, so recently I installed Windows XP Pro (32-Bit) and then upgraded to back to Windows 7 (64-Bit). Now everything so far seems to be fine but when I play Call of Duty 4 I get this delay/lag that was never there on Windows XP, to demonstrate this I have taken a video of an in game FRAPS Video, with my phone (so the quality is below par), reason being the FRAPS video is too big. Please assist.
ISP: Telkomdemonopolies\ Axxess - (IS bandwidth)
RIG: Intel Q9400|GTS 250 Dark Knight 1 GB | 4 GB DDR2 800 | 1.5 TB (3x500 GB) | ASUS P5N-D
Line Speed: 4096 K
PS: The lag is not due to FRAPS recoding while I am playing.

Thank you in advance.

then tell us all the details that it gives to you.

RE: Issue of the phantom LAG, so I am back on XP and the problem is still here, I have started pulling my hair out.

If you're switching between installs, it could be that you haven't installed your Nvidia drivers yet?
Or it could be onboard sound related.

Hmmm... I have a question: Is the lag constant, or do the FPS drop badly every 2 to 3 seconds?

The reason i ask, is the latter happened with me on my old but more-than-good-enough-to-not-lag rig. It ran MW2 fine, but i got a significant drop in fps every 2 to 3 seconds in COD4.

Truth be told, I have no idea how to fix it. I downloaded new drivers, old drivers, chaffeur drivers... Damn, nothing worked.

Just do the, "pick up box, extend arms out the window and release" manuveur (sp?). It might not fix the problem, but it will make you feel better for a few seconds...

How about firewall issues on the router or your machine? It looks like something is keeping the data back and then suddenly passing it to your computer/game causing the rubber banding and then placing you in the spot where you would have been if you didn't rubber band...?

are you referring to the random lag spike that shoots you to 999 and then you revert a few seconds later ?

Me = /facepalm
Eventually (like 5 minutes ago), I figured it all out. I simply copied the players folder to avoid loosing my stats, and pasted it in the Cod 4 folder when I was running Windows 7, upon realising it could be this (the config located in the player folder). I created a new profile and low and behold the LAG is gone!

Thank You too all who commented I apprciate it.
