The Christmas Gift catalogue from Makro listed COD 5 -with image, at R299.00.

So off I schlep to Makro, go to the PC games section and there it is -

at R399.00

I take the brochure to the counter and query the difference.
They phone someone in some or other department and after some input on the pc I see COD 5 is on promotion at R359.00 - better than the shelf price.

But the brochure says R 299.00, so they dig a little deeper.

They call up COD on the pc and there it is - at R299.00..... however this is for COD 4 !

Seems what happened is they used the cover image of COD 5 instead of the cover image of COD 4 above the price of R 299.00.

No arguments from Makro at all - I got it for R299.00.

I think the brochure is valid until Christmas....

:D

Thank You!

Well they would be shunned if they did not give you what they advertised.

Then companies could advertise things at very low pricing and change them when you go to buy it.

Nice spot, I presume by now they have pulled all the COD5 copies from their shelves and will restock them in the new year.

I had a similar issue at Trade Centre awhile ago and they refused outright to honor their advertised price, so I left and have never ever set foot in their stores again and talk everyone I know into going to Makro for better service. And that was for something simple as well like R75 or so, not a huge amount, they have lost 100x that in mine and others business over this. If the difference was substantial then I'd expect them to meet me half way or so, but for small amounts please......

I'm just surprised that they didn't change the shelf price to R 359.00 - they would have sold more and made up the R60.00 I cost them.

warwick, i sincerely doubt their operating profit has dropped just because you've stopped going there

Lose one person, there are 10 others that are happy / new customers (for non-monopolistic systems of course).

 This has been in the game bargains topic for almost over a month now go check it out.
