COD - Black Ops 2

Great thanks, thought that was the case. So does this matchmaking take place locally, or does it jump the gun and connects anywhere internationally?

It starts searching locally on Mweb's servers first, if it doesn't find anyone within the first 10 seconds of you trying, then it automatically expands it's search internationally. So if you don't find a game in a specific gamemode (within 10 seconds), it means no locals are playing that specific mode then ;)

Great thanks! Wil try again tonight. :D

Stonecold is correct, but you can force it to use high speed connections, thus hopefully not dumping you on Internationally hosted matches. From your menu before you actually click on the gametype (TDM etc....) you want to play from the multiplay menu, hit the "S" key and then select high speed connection.

According to MWEB, their servers are up and running, but I have no Idea how many there are. I have not yet successfully been put in a Locally hosted match by using the search for game...

I think it will get better the more people have the game, btw int games are a lot better lag than in prev titles the latency is there but its more playable.
I asked pcdev if they can refine the friends list a bit like group in steams friends list so hopefully he'll get back to me.
If I remember correctly matchmaking is also depended on skill & level that might be why were not seeing all our friends in the friends list. But this is by far the most stable COD release to date.
On a side note if you get the 3gb update cancel it & try verifying your local cache its actual;ly trying to download the multiplayer portion of the game seems to be a steam issue, if that fails remove the game re-install & then update(3gb vs 400mb uodate), & if your using an NVIDIA GPU download the beta drivers according to pcdev it helps.

Will give it a try tonight, appreciate the advice!

They need to fix the friend list... I have 240 friends on my list and I can only see 100 in game. I can't join some friends. I haven't had a problem with the match making. The TDM lobbies are always full except early parts of morning...

I can't find any other game types locally though.... I also found it harder to find a game going into match making with a party. If I go alone I am out into a game easier...

I got it yesterday... damn fun but so far I've only played TDM... I do like how it shows how many people are playing each mode, and what mode the friends in your friends list are playing, makes it a bit easier to find one of the more fun game modes.

I tested on the Vox vs Mweb this weekend. I had Ping issues that drove me insane. Sudden spikes to 1 red bar. I tried dialup from PC vs Router connection. So my findings thus far:

1) Vox runs perfectly, as good as Mweb.
2) Connecting via Vox returns less friends in the friends list than Mweb.
3) Nothing helps to let me see all my friends who are playing in my friends list.
4) Dialup from PC is better than using routers connection (Nat Open vs moderate)
5) Setting match making to best connection results in never finding a game.
6) Setting match making to normal almost always throws me in some French or German lobby.
7) farking great game, farking p o e $ stupid P2P match system....

They seriously need to improve the lobby, joining/ p2p system. Its goddamn awful. By the time I get into a decent SA game, with maybe one of my clan mates, I'm so worked up / pi$$ed off, I don't play well...

Is your NAT open? I have no idea what that means but it might be the issue... mines on medium and I can see all my friends.

Does not matter if Nat is Open or Moderate. Actually I'd like all you guys to comment on the following:

1) Nat Type in game (Strict / Moderate / Open)
2) ISP & Type of account (Capped unshaped / Uncapped shaped)
3) Region (Your province - trying to see which INX you probably route via)
4) Connection via router or PC?

Me:
1) Either Open or Moderate (For me does not matter)
2) MWEB - Uncapped Shaped
3) KZN / DINX
4) Via PC (Open Nat) / Via Router (Moderate Nat)

I Know Kyubi also does not see all his friends and he is aslo in KZN... I'm wondering if this is region specific or ISP specific? But then again, My wife cant see me but I see her ?!? we on the same line / connection.

Played about 10 hours or so this weekend.

So far its quite enjoyable, but because its such a fast paced game that extra 100-200ms you get for playing on international severs makes a big difference. Everyone has the jump on you.

Was able to randomly get into some local games which were great - but only about 4/30 games I played seemed to be on mweb. Will try the 'high speed connection' option and see if that helps at all.
