COD - Black Ops 2

Hows RoS doin? still got the "Old Boyz" ?? BTW .. hows new graft? and cabby?

@Mike ... bring it baby!

I'm going to clean house.... no openings unless its a unanimous vote from 75% main members. Going to keep it small and tight ...

Doing well. Yeah all the toppies are still there with one or two new bloods keeping them on their toes. DGL is going okay-ish still First Division. Will see after Rage how well we did. With all these guys playing with Google talent it is difficult to see who actually plays well.

Graft is good - keeping me busy... :) Car also - very nice just a small petrol tank... ;)

So have been doing some searching on the Servers that we will have... Well it looks like a win / lose scenario ... No rented Dedi servers anymore and yes they will be using matchmaking :( but there will be free Dedi servers hosted by themselves. This is to try and curb hacking, which if they can do, will be fantastic.

What anti-cheat will be used?

Anti-cheat is a top priority for Call of Duty®: Black Ops II. We have developed our own proprietary server-side anti-cheat technology which will work alongside VAC to deliver the most advanced detection and banning capabilities of any Call of Duty game to date. We have also improved our player reporting system to make it the most effective way that you can help us catch cheaters. And starting on launch day we will have a full-time dedicated pc anti-cheat team focused solely on detecting and banning cheaters. We have a zero tolerance policy on cheating. Cheaters bans are permanent.

Will Black Ops have Matchmaking or Dedicated Servers?

Both! Call of Duty®: Black Ops II PC combines matchmaking with secure ranked dedicated servers. This means that you get into Public Matches or League Play via matchmaking lobbies. It is easy to party up and play with your friends. You can adjust your classes or scorestreaks between matches. It also means that every Public or League match is hosted on a dedicated server running in one of our high bandwidth datacenters around the globe.

Will you release the server files?

No. We are keeping the server files secure to protect the game from hacking and cheating and ensure the ranking and progression system integrity.

Can I rent a server?

No. We are providing a huge number of servers around the world at no extra charge – plenty for everyone to enjoy. And we will administer the servers.

Will there be mod tools?

No. As we continually improve and advance our in-house tools for our own content teams we are unable to provide consumer tools due to increased technical requirements, licensing restrictions, and technology dependencies.

I dont know scoob.... maybe the guys at MWEB gaming can get in and assist? They already host gameservers in SA. But it looks like its going to be p2p shyte... At least our infrastructure has improved considerably since MW2 days. So gaming should be smoother with less lag.

FYI .. dunno if its posted... Trailer:

Help me out here in regards to the server issue. I seem to be lost.

When I join a public game, will it pair me up with south africans, like MW3 is busy doing at the moment? Or will it all be based in the states? As in, high ping every game? When it comes to the dedicated servers, are they going to be like MW3 is now as well? Unranked for us South Africans?

Ping is the issue for me. Don't really care about clan matches and whatnot. I would just like to know if I can play with low latency.

The thing that I don't like about matchmaking is you can't see where everyone else is playing so everyone everywhere only plays TDM because searching for a local DEM or CTF match is going to be a complete waste of time... and because everyone knows this they only ever play TDM.

Dedi servers: I jump in wanting to play a TDM game but I see oh someone is playing CTF or a wager match so I decide to do that for a change.

That is actually so true. You struggle far too much trying to get a lobby of South Africans together to do any other play type, like CTF, or KC, or whatever. :/

I think they are going to make it easier to find your buddies in game and party up. My logic says that it should throw you into a local game first, if there is one available, before chucking you with an overseas lobby. This i what I understand from the Q&A posted above.. Also there will be dedi ranked servers you can join (hopefully we will have some in SA).

This does not bode well for playing Blops2 competitively. If we are unable to set up our games to the specifications we want I seriously doubt that either the DGL or NGL will be taking this title for competitive play next year, which is a tragedy.

Oh well, let's see what MOH offers... :(

Hopefully there will be a big enough outcry to get the to understand the need for Rented Dedi Servers... I wonder if we will have to setup and host our own games for compos?

What's the bet that within a week there will be hackers on these "safe" servers.

I need to try a cod title again, the last one I played was cod4.
My main issue has been that it attracted a whiny kiddie field generally and more hackers than you know what to do with!
I normally stick to the battlefield title to play with less of them(yes there are still some) but I think its time to see what cod is about.

Just remember its a completely different experience to battlefield. I have tons of fun playing BF3 for hours but I have equal fun playing Black ops for 10 minutes... but playing BF3 for 10 minutes and playing BO for hours is less fun... if you know what I mean.

I think I would play it for a fix of run and gun action, I enjoy close quarters because I like to run in and shoot stuff.
I dont think it would be able to replace the bf series for me, I love them waaay too much :p

Yeah I usually only get like 20 minutes at a time to jam online (bladdy life) so lately I've been getting my fix from Black ops...
