COD - Black Ops 2

If you buying a "monster" PC to run a game built on an engine that barely changed since 2007 then surely you are doing it wrong?

I did not buy a "monster" PC to run this piece of ****.

But thank you for your valuable input.

You do know that BO 2 runs on a brand new engine? The engine you are referring to is the IW 3.0 Engine (which was made for COD 4 in 2007)

I still dont know how you can say "an engine that barely changed since 2007" when COD 4 uses DirectX 9 and BO 2 uses DirectX 11....common sense.

@IRG - I had the same 3GB update problem... Seems like the only work around is what Greybush has suggested. I did the same. Steam needs to fix this!

Well, it has not happened again .. touch wood... but servers were glitchy yesterday afternoon!! Full ping bar status, yet lag galore + the network error popping up intermittently....

Like I said above it is a steam issue as I have seen it on more than once game where steam seems to mess up its game cache & need to re-download the game again.
Thus far nobody really has a fix or prevention for it, what i have done is to turn off cloud sync so lets see how it works.

FFS.. going throw this POS game into the farking bin, its unplayable, I can't get over a 0.3 KD now, I was averaging 1.09.. constant lag and Con errors.... my ping bar is full .. pingtest / speedtes all fine... FFS ...

Eish....

Seems like a good thing I have been defined to my bed for 3 days... :D Got a horrible case of the flu and decided to give it a break. Will go on tonight and report any issues.

Ok, so did port re-create... not much better :( So I have uninstalled BO2, rebooted and installing it from fresh. Lets see if it gets better...

EDIT: Well I played after re-installing, and it looks like it might have solved my issues... will keep u posted...

They need to fix this ****ing issue

COD ping issue

Ping spikes! Disconnection issues! Some Black Ops 2 players are suffering from a range of gnarly multiplayer symptoms following the game's latest update, everything from dropped connections mid-match, failures to connect to servers in the first place, and the game generally just sort of forgetting the internet exists. Treyarch's intrepid pcdev is on the case however, issuing a helpful workaround while work progresses on a proper fix.

Posting on the community forums, the dutiful tinkerer announced:

"We have identified an issue with increased upload bandwidth usage for some players that could result in the one or more of the following symptoms:

- Getting disconnected from matches
- Sudden ping spike during gameplay
- Difficulty connecting to the Black Ops 2 Servers
- Getting disconnected from the Black Ops 2 Servers
- Temporary loss of internet connectivity

Users experiencing any of the issues mentioned above can try the following workaround:

- Launch Black Ops 2 Multiplayer
- Go to the Options > Settings > Voice Chat- Turn Voice Chat – OFF
- Exit the game completely
- Restart the game

Following these steps may resolve some of the symptoms listed above. We are still testing a proper fix that will be released as soon as it is ready."

Fairly straightforward then: just switch off voice chat and restart, though pcdev stresses that this might not fix the problem for all players. If you're still being unceremoniously flung out of games, you'll have to wait for Treyarch to finish work on a sturdier, more official solution.

Didn't fix my issue, basically the game is playable for about 10s per round, then it climbs to 999.

I also found that yesterday... tried it & it worked. Pings still bounce around, but not to the unplayable levels I was experiencing. Most of this weekend my ping was +200 in game... Pathetic double XP weekend :(

Amazing how it managed to even disconnect my TS at times, also showing me no Internet connection in steam too. Major F up....

I think that's what it does, maxes out your upload bandwidth... I'm on a 2mb line and it's properly unplayable, I yo yo like crazy.

Petition time for a repeat Double XP weekend when the Fix comes! And seriously the lame arse freebie players this weekend grated my tits with their attitudes and crap play. Never experienced so many TK's ever! I never lose my cool ingame, but I called one out this weekend. Guys were shocked, they never heard me swear on the ingame chat before :o I racked up 6 TK's in one match. By the end of the match only 4 players were left on my team (kicked for to many TK's)

Ah, I don't jam HC... I kill too many teamies.

Ok so there was a patch yesterday which almost fixed my issue, no more 999 ping but I now play on a 10s on 10s off cycle... asked in the server I was playing in and about half the guys had the same issue.

Yeah I saw the patch, it basically does what the workaround did. My average ping in game is at least 20 to 40ms higher than it used to be, and its never stable... up and down. But there are still plenty of guys hitting 150+ pings. I have notice that guys with a ping between 110 and 130ms have a clear advantage due to the lag compensation.
