COD4 Help Please.

Hi, I am a complete noob when it comes to online gaming. When I say noob, I mean that this is my first time ever trying to play a game like COD4 online. Here is my problem, I open multiplayer, click on join game, I refresh the list of servers, I get a long list, I click on a server, and then it tells me "Server is for low ping players only". I've tried even the server with the highest ping, yet I get the same message. Surely I should have a fast enough connection because I have that 4096 telkom line. Is there something I am doing wrong, and also how do I connect to a South African Server?

First of the message says that your ping is to high to join the server.
Thats because you're trying to join International servers.

Go to http://games.saix.net

They have local servers. Just check the server list. Also join the forums and go to the Call of Duty 4 section they'll be able to help you with everything from Punkbuster onwards.

Im planning on buying the game so for now I cant help you more than that :)

MAXI

MULTI

TACTICAL
::All MAPS are supported.
::Only Search & Destroy and Sabotage GAMETYPES are supported.
::VOTING is disabled.

HARDCORE
::REALISTIC Mode is enabled.
::All MAPS are supported.

Server Changes are indicated as follows:

Easiest way....

get X-fire [link in my sig] when you have created an account go to the servers tab and add them in there, then it's just one click join! :D
 
I dont have the game, but I think it should be possible to add servers in a favourite list or something.

If not download The All Seeing Eye, its a game browser. Works very good, same as x-fire you just dont have to register. ASE will also help you sourt out some Punkbuster issues.

BTW Punkbuster is the anti-cheat program CoD4 uses.

1. Click on join game.

2. Click on favourites tab on top (i think?)

3. Click on add (i think?)

4. Type in the ip address of one of the servers that Glordit posted.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 till all the servers on Glordits' post have been added.

6. Double click on the server that you want to play on...... priovided there's room for you.

Sorry I'm not too clear about the process. I don't have the game in front of me. :)

Ignore above advise...way too complicated for noobs like us.

Here's the noob way:

- Join multiplayer
- Click on "join game"
- Click on the top most tab...I think it says "filter"
- select "local servers"
- if nothing appears, click on "refresh list" (you should then get a list of the 6 SGS servers)
- join one of them, that has space available

lol, don't have CoD4 so X-fire seem'ed like the easiest way!

cant tell you how long it took me to figure out how to join the servers on some games. But that in the past not so much of a noob anymore. Get xfire it is very usefull and you wont regret getting it u can invite me on it if u have any more question. (to invite me just click on the plus button add friend my nick is Splendidza)
