Help

Hi there. I ve been using hamachi with many games, like red alert 2 and others (i have a taste for good old games) , so i am familiar with all the steps involved.

But lately, i ve been trying to set up a COD4 game over hamachi with some friends, but nothing worked.
Do i have to install newer patches so it can work ?

PS: we have patched the COD4 to v 1.5 and tried almost evrythng from disabling firewall and In-game settings ....

I appreciate any help from anyone ... i am keen on this version (although i have the newer ones)

Welcome to the forum.

Are all of you using the same version? Are you guys already playing something else on hamachi?

Also try to forward the ports on your router and make sure your personal firewall (if you have one) is disabled.

Sorry for my late reply, too much of studying lately :p

I think that is has to do with my friends' computers' configurations...
So id rather see them actually and investigate furthermore. Il keep u posted.

Meantime, i have a question: Before we played red alert 2, we followed this tutorial http://logmeinwiki.com/wiki/Hamachi:Red_Alert_2 and it was quite helpful.

1. Do i have to repeat the same steps when it comes to adding the "NWLink IPX" stuff ?
2. Is there any similar tutorial to get the game set up on hamachi as easy and as clear as the one mentionned above (the logmeinwiki page) ?

Thanks for your concern !

Also try to forward the ports on your router and make sure your personal firewall (if you have one) is disabled.

As i mentionned previously, i disabled my personal firewall (i always disable my antivirus firewall since it's not so effective)
When it comes to port forwarding, i dont have a router, i have a LAN connection (i live in a college campus in france, i can benefit from a free connection, thats the reason ! :P )

Anyway, as i wrote to SharkBait, i will try fixing my friends' configs and then i hope i come up with something... maybe you can help me out with the question i just sent to SharkBait:

Don't know if there is a similar tutorial, but you only had to do that because RA2 used IPX/SPX for lan games. COD4 (and almost every other game these days) uses TCP/IP.

Basically all you have to do is connect to a hamachi network, make sure you can ping each other, one hosts the game and the other connect through the console to the hamachi ip and it should work.

Also, try another program, i highly recommend Tunngle, after leaving Hamachi i will never go back. Tunngle is also newer and allows you to play with anyone in the public room, just join the "Call of duty modern warfare" room (a few hundred people can join) also you don't have to join the corresponding room to play a game, if you join a crysis room you can still play CoD4. If you do stick to Hamachi make sure that the hamachi is till at the top when you go to network connection, Advanced settings on both you and your friends pc's.

PS: like Sharkbait said, try joing thru the console by pressing ~ then type "connect <IP adress here>" Without the " (Note that the IP is displayed at the top of hamachi)
