Hi All,

Does anyone know what it costs to get a code 10 licence these days?
The part time maid we have says her son wants to do this and he was quoted R2500 by some driving school in Randburg?
Sounds a bit on the expensive side however i dont know what the current going rate is - i emailed some driving schools - still awaiting for replies.

Anyone know?

In joburg going rate is about R200 per hour as far as I know. And if he hasnt driven before 10-15 lessons would be my bet, so its not bad. But she must also remember that there will be added fees like when he goes to book his license and the cost of renting out the vehicle for the test which is usually 2-3 times the cost of a lesson.

If I had to do my license again I would also do a code 10. Much easier to pass than a code 8 and the reason why so many people are doing them.

I'm doing code 10 now and here it's R2500 for unlimited lessons until you get your license, otherwise it is R150 per hour.

Thanks.

I recall this being VERY expensive in Europe. A lot of people were going abroad to do it cheaper and then converting.
