Anyone here roasting their own beans? I do so successfully in a popcorn maker. My best roast so far is a Uganda/Brazil 50-50 mix roasted for 8 minutes, just before the 2nd crack. I stop before any of the oils surface on the beans, i.e. before they become glossy.

I have just put a batch in the airfryer. Waiting for them to settle so I can have a taste.

I place them on a baking tray and roast them for 15-20 minutes in my wood-fired oven. The added wood flavour (cherry, oak, imbuia) seeps into the beans and I can taste them as subtle notes in plain black coffee.

Lots of experimenting with times and even cooling the beans. The popcorn machine does the best job, yet it is just a small quantity at a time. It is amazing how seconds make a difference to the eventual taste.

It remains a fine balance to eliminate acidity to a level I like without negatively affecting the other nuances. There is no magic 'recipe' to satisfy all tastes and it remains intersting using beans from different sources. Fortunately a local roastery have no qualms providing me with small quantities of green beans.

I think I need to try this. I have tried in the Airfryer but didn't get the results I want.
