Do you believe that people can have telepathic links with others (normally those close to them) ?

A simple example that often happens to me is that when I decide to SMS my better half, which can be at any time of the day, he would often SMS me at the very same time, so the 2 messages literally pass each other by in cyberspace :)

We often sit and chat and he would mention something and it would turn out that I had the very idea.

It used to freak us out, but it happens so often that we just laugh about it now.

Happens too often IMO for it to be coincidence.

Perhaps you guys have learned your 'cycle of SMSing', and subconsciously message each other at similar times? Like women who's periods align when they live together for a while.

This seems far more plausible than telepathy, which makes no sense considering the physical world we are constrained by.

Normal stats. With close to 8 billion people on the planet some are sure to have more of these coincidences than others. Your personal experiences prove very little on their own.

Non-believers :)

Forget my situation; what about the other cases out there ?

This is like "miracles". All coincidence. If a truck rolls off a road and stops inches from a 300m drop you're sure to read about somebody, somewhere declaring it a miracle... yet you don't read about the millions of other trucks all over the world that just roll over the edge. When something happens enough anomalies are bound to occur.

My family also believes in telepathy. I just laugh at them. They use examples like turning on the radio and a song you had wanted to hear would be playing, or picking up the cell phone to call somebody just as it starts ringing with a call from them. All of this is simple coincidence. You remember the ones that work out that way and forget about all the times it didn't happen. It happens to all of us. In a case of a song it's even more ridiculous as you're way more likely to have a song in your head that you hear often, and is thus already receiving copious amounts of radio play.

You probably SMS your husband quite a lot, but only remember the few times his message reaches you at the exact time that you send him one.

Now if you both agreed to only SMS each other one time per week on random days for a month and it still worked out that way I'd be impressed... but then you'd probably also be able to win the Randy prize. Fact is, if you did it like that you'd more than likely not have a single hit.

Indeed!
Just coincidence. You and your other both know each other very well so its bound to happen now and again.

That sms/called-at-the-same-time thing happened a lot with me and my ex :)

I can tell what my SO is feeling most of the time. She'll be quiet and I'll know its about this thing or that person. I dont claim to be telepathetic though, I just happen to know her really well and am able to read her body language right. That coupled with knowing what her day/week was like goes a long way.

I sometimes can predict the next song on my MP3 player when it is set to random with uncanny accuracy. Sometimes I hear the song in my head before the next song plays. Happens seldom, but when it does its usually right. Ie, I dont hear the song in my head and then it doesnt come on.

The human brain is a pattern recognition machine. If you MP3 players random algorithm is not that good (good chance of that) its far more likely that you have subconsciously identified the pattern and so are able to predict the next song.
