COJ going coo-coo ???

They will happily slap on a disconnection fee too if you don't pay that R0.

So today got a sms, in arrears with coj, being handed over to debt collection

Now got a formal letter, given over for owing R0 in debt

Whats the pass number for maths again?
Wait till they smack you with a 20 page bill with a whole lot of credits, debits, and reversals that don't make any sense and total R50k. I don't even know what to complain about besides the total amount owing which is clearly incorrect.

On top of this I also got handed to disconnections who sent me a WhatsApp asking for a R3k eWallet to look the other way. It's a joy living in this country.

Got a very strange bill from them yesterday, wanting payment on the 19th May.
A couple of months ago I had a new electricity meter installed, and despite using electricity regularly, they reckoned I hadn't.
Seems like they've been doing reconciliations, but it's very confusing indeed.

For me, it turns out they came and swapped out my water meter without informing me back in August 2024. Then in Feb they did some sort of recon where they re-billed me from Aug 2024 to Feb 2025 and then credited me for what I paid. This would make sense if the numbers added up but they don't and now they tell me I've got R50k owing to them and I've got to prove otherwise and the bill is just reams and reams of debits, credits and reversals that I can't make heads or tails of.

I sent to Rates4u, the people that sort out these things (at a fee ofcourse). They do the first 20 min free, and they failed to notice that somehow I had two water meters on my Feb bill when in the fact the old meter was removed in August, in additional to all the other stuff, so I lost faith in their ability to resolve things - especially since they want R1500 to "continue the investigation".

They are terminally confusing. I work with numbers for a living and they managed to flummox me.
