Just a bit of a noob question.

We moved into our first house a month ago. When I got home just now, I found a rates invoice in the post box.

It says I can pay via online banking and that the public recipient is "City of Johannesburg". However FNB only has "City of Johannesburg Metro". Is this the correct one? I don't want to pay into some other CoJ account.

And on this invoice it only lists property rates and waste removal, when can I expect the water and electricity bill?

And final question (for now). I tried to register on the CoJ website, but registration doesn't work. Is this a common issue? Is it necessary or helpful to register on their website?

Thanks in advance

If you're on FNB then rather use Easypay. It will count as an online payment so you'd earn more eBucks...

Your statement should have an Easypay reference number. Just register on easypay.co.za, go to Pay Accounts (or something, I can't remember), and add that reference number as a beneficiary...

101, make sure the property is your name firstly. I assume that is the case. Secondly, make sure the COJ is also on your name !

If you are the owner, you will have rates, water and elec and refuse.

Like Mike is saying, use easypay to pay the account "IF" it is on your name.
