I have two cold cathode lights in my PC. They stopped working recently and I reckon it was the little black box that popped.
I have a spare one lying around, but neither have any ratings on them, can I just plug the spare one in? Is something going to go bang or are they a standard voltage/polarity etc?

Molex connectors (the standard big one's that powers older IDE drives): Red = 12v, yellow = 5v, black = earth. It's Standard inside every pc. :)

The CCFL's should run on a standardized voltage as well.

Thanks bud. Wasn't worried about the voltage from the PSU, but rather what the little black box is gonna send to the lights. Will try it just now and let you know.
