Anyone here have the same issue or could maybe help??

Google reveals very little and I get the feeling the codemasters community wont be able to help. :( but you welcome to look at the link above for a more detailed description.

On the PC Colin Mcrae Dirt will crash randomly at the menu screen. It will often require a reset on the PC.

Specs:
AMD64 3500+ on WinXP32 SP2
Dual6600GT 256meg (Dual GPU on one card)
1Gig Ram

We have applied latest patch and tried various other fixes such as taking off HDR effects.
Oh yes and tried various GFX drivers...just to add it does sometimes complain about nv_4 display driver has stopped responding only after this game crashes which is why we tried all kinds of drivers but obviously thats not it.

It is only this game giving problems.

have you installed the "beta" drivers or the latest drivers? It could also be your PC [I highly dout this though] DiRT is very demanding and IMO codemasters messed this one up badly :(

Have tried both Beta and Latest drivers :p

It's actually my fathers PC he is a huge racing game fan. My PC is a little better :D I am trying to help him out but it is just problem after problem. :(

Framerates in game are no longer an issue but the menu crash requires him to reset very frequently but he wont give up the game.

Can't wait to get this game on my 360, has anyone had any problems with it on the console?

tried this on the pc... same system as your dad's but i have a 2900xt and 2GB RAM. the game runs like CRAP, even on lowest detail :/ cpu is the bottle neck as far as i can tell.

Guys any ideas ? ?? I have exactly the same problem here..HDR tweaker didn't help
The system is
Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 o/c 2.66
2gb ram @ 800Mhz
6800GS 512MB DDR3 factory o/c
realtek onboard HD audio working at 5.1

The 1st bug fix of the 1.1 patch is for crashing in menu. Seems that on my pc hasn't been fixed.. I'm going to install patch 1.2 now but the fixes don't say anything about this thing.

Direct X is the latest 9.0c... dunno what to do .. PLEASE HEEEEEELP

Oh and another thing.. Panda Antivirus was blocking the game b4 that.. I wasn't even able to go in menu, bcz it was trying to access the internet somehow.. :/ when I disabled the antivirus I was able to get in menu AND CRASH there :/

^ pls lemme know if patch 1.2 works. I didn't know it was released yet.

We still have the problem, it seems to be lack of support for 6series graphic's cards :( even the community forums aren't able to help. I don't think anyone can tbh. Unless patch 1.5 one day has better support.

It is a very annoying problem because Dirt is one of the better racing games out there and to have it do this is a blerri tragedy :(

Got this game for my birthday yesterday. This day at work is going very slowly now :(

Guys this is my 2nd post oon this forum in less than 1/2 an hour and I'm happy to announce that patch 1.2 worked for me :D

this is patch 1.2 and also includes 1.1 patch files http://www.gamershell.com/download_20329.shtml

I also tried the crack from ver 1.1 (for those who like to keep backup of their favourite games) and worked.

^ wow good news, I will give it a bash when I get home :D thanks man. Possibly the best first 2 posts I have ever seen from a new member :p Possibly I say!, will wait and see :)

As a courtesy call you should post in the "first posts" section and be ninja'd!

and again I think a 8800GTs is a must / Medium Grafix and I can't use low RESolution on a 22inch wide :( I need cash for card. I'll have to w8 till next payday in the end of the month :( At least I hope it gets cheaper or I'll send my godfather to dubai to get it for like half price :D

Okay after talking to freinds that have it... I have Deduced that Codemasters are now the worst game developers :( they say it worked well on a E6320, 1.5GB DDR2 800, 7800GTX
