Hi folks

I need to get some option/tips for Colocation Hosting in Cape Town CBD?

What company will be the best option for me, piecewise and quality wise?

Hetzner suck (if goes offline, when I wanna be online, but their always willing to help over phone they don't always know everything but they try:) .....once their generator didn't kick in and my website died for a couple of hours or days, I think its the cape town datacenter or joburg something latency no pizza for the night...whatever)

Internet Solutions in cape town (needs a entire new group of people, because they never!!!!!!!!!!!!! reply your emails and YOU have to keep phoning them, theres like 1 person there thats awake and kinda in charge, worst company ever!.....and their our uplink:erm: eish)

If I had my own 100mbps link with a static IP(s) = my problem solved for life!

haha ...I'm looking at the IS building right now as we "speak"

I didnt know RSAWEB had a farm there 2...woow

Both IS and RSAWeb advertise their Cape Town location as 34 Bree St so I'm guessing they have a data centre there??

on the website is says: The Avalon building, 123 Hope & Mill Streets , Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa.

and thats in front of the gardens shopping centre

EDIT: 2km away from the IS building

Teraco has a Cape Town data center as well. I assume you will have to rent at least half a cabinet, and then still organize with one of the ISPs that has a presence there for transit/connectivity. Most are there as far as I know.

yea mates, starting a new IT business today "just for fun" hahaha aint that easy..

This is completely off topic, but I was on rsa web's website the other day. They have a dedicated server for R995 per month.

Guess how much bandwidth the server gets?

1GB

Is this some kind of joke?

check this out guys: I got myself a VPS for $60 once of and then its for 6 months:

10 GB Disk Space
100 GB Monthly Bandwidth
128 MB Guaranteed Memory
1 Dedicated IP Address
FREE Setup

just did it for fun, not using it anymore :(

and then check out http://vps.net/

Monthly cost from
$20.00

Network transfer
1TB

Disk space
10GB

as for South Africa ...booooooooooooooh

We offer 1TB traffic, locally hosted, on our dedi's

sounds good, but at this moment I'm exploring my options colocation vs. self hosting vs. 155mbps neotel local only IF they even have such a thing vs. pricetag(s)

vs. RSAWEB up to 1GB/s:erm:

One problem though D-Boy, we're unable to send these down to CPT's CBD :)

RSAWEB has 2 DC's.

DC1 in the Avalon Building HOPE Street(Their offices)
DC2 in the Terraces Building (Bree Street)

If you looking for any of the following:
Fibre backhaul links to the DC from anywhere in the CDB with direct internet break out from the DC
TRUE cloud and I'm not talking single node failure point "cloud" services (aka - Single power dedicated server with VMware installed)
Fully customized solutions (And not "This is the product take it or leave it")
Direct contact with Solution architects and senior technical staff

... Then give them a call.
