Colour TV/out is B&W :(

Hi There :)

Just another quick one to anyone who knows about connecting your GFX card to a TV for Dual View or Cloning or anything of the sort.

No matter what settings I have tried the TV insists on displaying black and white rather than colour, any particular reason why????

Changed PAL to NTSC and back, tried cloning, tried Dual View nothing works?? Its always black and white, all colour settings are fine though on both TV and GFX settings. Manuals dont help at all !! Hope its just something simple i missed.

Im using a GV-3D1-XL (Dual 6600gt) on winxp pro. Goldstar television (AV Multi). Also im connecting them via component connection...its that little black box with the three colour coded connectors.

starting to think its not possible with my current setup as i have read the colour bandwidth is supplied on the other cables, seeing as there is only one video/in on the TV i dont see what can be done lol

I was going to say it was a NTSC/PAL issue but I see you've ruled that out.

Surprised to hear the telly has component video - have you tried the vanilla A/V instead?
 
That graphics card uses S-Video for the TV-out?

Im sure those old Goldstar TVs don't have component, you mean composite?
 
the adapter that came with my card has both S/Video and component connectors. Im pretty noob at this whole thing....but im assuming that i cant use component for my tv :( at least i cant get a colour picture.

They say S/Video has some clarity/colour degradation as it combines the coulor and b&w into one signal.

So if my tv doesnt have S-video, can you get converters?? S-video to composite??
 
Yes you need a converter.

S-Video splits the chroma and the luminance onto two different pins.

Composite all travels on the same cable, yellow for video.

Oh and it won't be a PAL/NTSC issue, most those Goldstars even support SECAM.

Ask for an S-Video to composite converter.

If it doesn't work scream.
 
It does work :p now i can watch dvds and lie on my bed...Was watching Dream Theater live at Budokan DVD yesterday. It rocks!!! Thanks again :)
